Letters of Light  The Utah House and House of Hope, and various other oranizations who serve individuals in crisis, needs positive encouragement.  If your group is interested in writing encouraging letters of hope to teens in crisis, or women undergoing treatment for substance abuse, please email me at jodirobinson2182@hotmail.com.  I've had 5th graders write, women's groups, Church groups, and the teens and my ladies at House of Hope have LOVED them!  Your church youth group, school class, school club, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, book club, ladies group, or Activity Day girls would have a fun and enriching experience decorating cards for boys/girls ages 14-18.  And sharing messages of hope and healing to women 20-55, any time of the year!  Contact me jodirobinson2182@hotmail.com

Positive Affirmation Jars (click for more instructions)
If you are interested in donating to House of Hope in Salt Lake City, email me at jodirobinson2182@hotmail.com.  I try to collect 200 jars each year, so I welcome groups making them for my Ladies undergoing treatment there.  You can decorate them however you like.  With scrapbooking paper.  Material.  Being creative is what makes it fun!

Email me at jodirobinson2182@hotmail.com for the quote template  that I use to fill the jars with quotes, scriptures, and inspirational thoughts, or create your own.  FREE!

I collect these all year long, so that's the good news!  I'm always in need of them.  And that can really be a fun, easy project.  Here are some thoughts:

CAMP Projects

1)  PA jars at camp are easy, espeically if you use paper boxes, instead of jars.

Supplies:  Scissors, Paper trimmers, Copies of quotes. You can have the girls decorate with stickers and ribbons, etc. The girls cut the paper strips, with quotes on them, and fill up the boxes!  You can buy boxes like these on line, at Michael's Craft Store, or at Expedex.

Boxes make the Positive Affirmation project very user friendly.

*  Clear plastic box/purse are also an option, especially if you used colored paper for the quote strips.  So darling!  Decorate the boes with with embellishments, stick-ons, ribbon,  and two dimensional stickers and wallah!  An absolutely lovely to die for gift!

3. STATIONARY KITS:   Have the girls make note cards, using colored paper.  Put 5 cards and envelopes in a stack and tie with a ribbon. Maybe supply a pen, too.

SPIRITUAL THOUGHT USING THE BOOK FAIRY BIRDS:  The Atonement makes your burdens light as a feather.  Challenge the girls to do one act of service at camp .  To make someone's burden light.  Alma 33:23:  "God grant unto you, that your burdens may be light, through the joy of his Son."  This scripture is about using the Atonement.  That your burdens may be light because of Christ's Atoning sacrifice.  One way we can show gratitude to Heavenly Father for giving us His Son, is to give of ourselves.  To make other's burdens light is one way to do that.  At a devotional, when the girls are presented with their feathers, you could share some thoughts about how to use the Atonement and the meaning of this scripture.  :))  That could be a really good exercise.

Duct Tape Spiral Notebooks--Cover a spiral notebook, front and back, with different color duct tape.  SO EASY!  These notebooks are perfect for boys and girls clubs, and, of course, any organization that serves children, teens, and adults.  Journaling is an important part of recovery and healing, so notebooks are a welcome sight.  ;))

Hearts Knit Together

Care Kits
Within the Salt Lake area, here is a worthy cause: Hearts Knit Together.  What I love about these kits is the love that goes into them.  The coordinator, Linda Simmons, is passionate about making sure the books, the stuffed animals, the towels, and the toiletries all coordinate.  One of the women I worked with last year, said she had a darling octopus blanket and doubted she'd ever find an octopus stuffed animal  But a few weeks later, guess what?  Someone donated one!  She was thrilled to finish that special bag for a special boy or girl.    Last year, this group donated over 3,600 welcome kits to all 16 domestic violence shelters in Utah, to Holding Out Help for the escapees from polygamy, to the Family Support Center and to the Refugee program.  Imagine if you’re a mother and your child is given a kit with a brand new, clean towel and a stuffed animal to hold at a time when life just doesn’t seem fair.  The kits are made for women and children.  Since its inception 7 years ago, 10,000 of these kits have been donated.
You can create your own kits following the guidelines, or donate books, stuffed, animals, towels, fleece blankets, shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc.

Sweet Service Candy Posters (click for more info)

Sweetin' things up at your house with a FUN candy poster-making activity.  Families, youth groups, and even work colleagues can turn this activity into spoonfuls of fun.

1) First, have a contest to create the best candy saying.
2) Second, vote.
3)  Print or write out your sayings on strips of paper.
4)  Use a glue stick to glue the sayings on th e poster.
5) Duct tape works best to stick the candy bars to the poster.
6)  Deliver your "sweet" message to the person in need of a smile.

Deliver a cleverly designed and articulated message made out of candy to a special someone in need of a smile.  :))  Someone in the hospital.  A neighbor you haven't seen in a while.  A teacher, friend, serviceman/woman in the military.  Someone who hasn't been to Church/school in a while.  The options are endless.
